Recipe Tips & Notes

Before serving, let soften on a counter for 30 minutes.

This recipe is a naturally gluten free & dairy free strawberry ice cream that can be converted to any flavours you’d like.

You can eat it right away as a soft-serve, or for a firmer, more ice-cream like texture, transfer the mixture to a metal container and freeze for about 3 to 4 hours or until firm.

How do you freeze strawberries or bananas?

No frozen strawberries or bananas on hand? Slice some ripe bananas and strawberries, and arrange in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, pop in to the freezer for about 2 hours! If stuck on sheet, let sit on the counter for a couple of minutes before lifting the parchment paper.

Is it worth getting an ice cream maker?

If you love making homemade sorbets or ice creams, investing in an ice cream maker could be great for your gluten free kitchen. You can also mix together slushies and churn other frozen drinks that might get watery in a blender. This 4 Quart Ice Cream Maker from Hamilton Beach makes ice cream, frozen yogurt, custard, sorbet, gelato and sherbet!
