Gluten Free Spaghetti Sauce {Customizable}

In need of a versatile gluten free spaghetti sauce? Try this easy, homemade spaghetti sauce that's made with all natural ingredients and can be adapted to every tastebud. Simply add your favourite ingredients and enjoy spaghetti night how you like!
This recipe is crockpot friendly too.

Ingredients
 

  • 2 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 3 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 ½ cups chopped tomatoes or 2 15oz cans of chopped tomatoes
  • 2 cups white mushrooms chopped
  • 5-6 fresh basil leaves chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Heat a large skillet on medium heat
  • Put in 1 teaspoon of olive oil with onion & garlic
  • Cook until cooked through or becomes translucent
  • Add dried oregano, chopped tomatoes and remaining olive oil.
  • Stir all together and continue on medium heat for about 10-15 minutes or until tomatoes break down into a sauce.
  • Add chopped mushrooms
  • Cook for another 5-10 minutes
  • Add fresh basil right before serving
  • Serve with your favourite gluten free noodle

Recipe Tips & Notes

Add additional ingredients to your homemade gluten free spaghetti sauce! 
When using ground beef/Italian sausage – cook meats before adding to the sauce mixture on medium heat. 
This recipe can also be cooked within a crockpot. Follow Steps one through five, add sauce and additional ingredients to crockpot and cook on slow for 6hrs.

Take your gluten free pasta sauce to the next level using fresh sprigs of basil, thyme or oregano versus dried options. Although fresh herbs pop a bit more, dried herbs and spices will work just as well.

    Thank you for the sensible recipe. Me and my friend were just preparing to make sauce from scratch the other week and the recipe tried was terrible. This recipe was so much better and didn’t fuss as much in the kitchen. I am very glad to see such fantastic recipes being shared freely out there!
